Bit of History:

Grapevine was cultivated in Prague even before the reign of the famous King Charles IV. Vineyards on the south banks of today’s Vinohrady, Vršovice and Nusle date back to 13th century. However, it was during Charles IV’s reign that thanks to new laws vineyards expanded immensely thus enabling the tradition to survive until today. The current form of the park including the vineyards originates at the end of 19th century, when it was built by Prague industrialist Moritz Gröbe.

The modern era of the vineyard begins after 1992 with the arrival of Mr Antonín Tureček, a wine maker who planted 8 different species of grapevine (4 white and 4 red). Ms Iveta Bulánková, Antonín Tureček’s daughter, and her husband Pavel Bulánek took over in 2009 and carry on the tradition of producing and selling wonderful wine from a newly built wine cellar in the heart of the vineyard itself.
